Canada had struck “Large Cents” since 1858. The last one was produced in May of 1920. Then Canada went to the “Small Cent” matching the 19-millimeter size of the “Lincoln Cents” then circulating in the USA. The "Large Cents" of King George V were issued each year between 1911 and 1920. The George V "Large Cents" are different from all the earlier Victoria and Edward coins in that they have the word "Canada" moved to the reverse. In 1917 World War I was raging and Canada was fighting it. Beginning in 1918 they would repatriate over 650,000 soldiers from Europe. They were the lucky ones. They would leave around 66,000 behind, in graveyards. Weight: 5.67 Grams, 25.4 Millimeters, .95 Copper .04 Tin & .01 Zinc. Mintage: 11,899,254.
