Description: This is a program from the Cal Bears vs Stanford Big Game played November 21, 1942 at Berkeley's Memorial Stadium. Program is in excellent condition. This was the final Big Game played for four years as World War II started less than a month after this game. Stanford won this contest 26 - 7 (score is written on front cover). Program is in very good condition with a light fold down the center of program. Stanford was led by Coach Jack Curtice. Cal was led by Coach Stub Allison. Two notable players were involved in this game. Stanford OL Bruno Banducci was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1943. Bruno left the Eagles in 1946 and was an original member of the San Francisco 49ers in 1946. Bruno played with the 49ers until 1954 and was twice named All Pro as an offensive lineman. Cal's starting running back was Grover Klemmer. Grover was also a track star and set a World Record in the 400 yard race in 1940. After graduating from Cal, Grover became the head football coach at San Francisco City College from 1946 to 1961. His teams won four Conference titles and two National Championships. In 1963, Grover became a NFL game Official. His tenure in the NFL ran from 1963 to 1981. Any questions let me know.
