Description: Early 1800s leather covered letter/document/valuable/desk box with original iron lock and decorative brass pins. The leather covering is in great antique condition with no major losses. The box is in overall good condition. The original top of the lid leather handle is still present. There is a brass handle. The exterior of the box is decorated with many brass pins at the corners and edges. . The interior of the box contains the original colored paper covering. and leather/fabric bands.There are some cracks in the leather on the back side but no tears. All other sides of the box are in great condition, The iron lock is original and present no top latch and no key. Nails in the bottom of the box are square head. Great antique patina and very sturdy box. See photos from all sides for detailed condition.This is a rare example of an early American leather covered valuable lock box waiting to be add to the collection for any serious antique woodwork/ leatherwork /box collectors.
