Description: Up for sale is a large silver plated tea and coffee set made by Meridan Britannia Co. which likely dates to the turn of the century. We know who purchased the set and when they passed but can’t nail down a purchase date 100% This set was owned by family (through marriage) and they no longer have interest in keeping the spare set in storage any longer. The set consists of a large water warming/heating kettle with pouring stand, (1) coffee pot, (1) tea pot, tea container and creamer/sugar bowl. All pieces are marked with an “A” monogram and have lots character from years of being used, polished and handled. The double handled “sugar bowl” is not made by Meriden but by Atkinson Silver and was monogrammed with match the set. It’s pretty close in style but the fine details don’t match. Each piece has lots of intricate details on the handles, finials and spout banding with flowers, hummingbirds, vines, berries all making an appearance. Overall, they are just beautiful piece of functional art perfect for the holiday table. I’ve given them a light polishing but with a bit more effort they would look even better. I just wanted to remove the heavy layer of black that appears after years of storage.
