Description: #1881 Up for sale is this original WW1 US Doughboy Helmet. Helmet is named to C. H. Bonkemeyer No. 784166 ( maybe his serial number). Comes with original liner and leather chinstrap. Helmet is stamped ZC 182. Still in good shape for being over 100 years old. After doing some preliminary research I was able to identify this helmet to an Claudius H. Bonkemeyer from Randleman North Carolina. He was a private in the 137th regiment. Thankfully for us Claudius decided to write his name inside this helmet so we could research it. I have only done the initial research on Bonkemeyer, there is still much more to uncover, could make for a very nice research project!
