Jules Pascin (1885-1930), born Julius Mordecai Pincas, was a Bulgarian-born artist of Jewish descent who became a celebrated figure in the early 20th-century art world. Known as the "Prince of Montparnasse," he was closely associated with the bohemian culture of Paris and is remembered for his distinctive contributions to Modernist and Expressionist art. He died by suicide in Paris in 1930 at the age of 45. His funeral was a massive event, attended by many of the leading artists and writers of the time. Legacy: • Today, Pascin's works are celebrated for their emotional depth and technical mastery, and his drawings and paintings are held in major museum collections worldwide. • He remains a symbol of the vibrant, yet often tragic, lives of artists in early 20th-century Paris.
