Description: The rifle barrel in this listing is for a Pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 in .300 H&H (long) Magnum caliber that has been rechambered to .300 Weatherby. If you have a Pre-64 Model 70 in .300 H&H Magnum and you are thinking of having it punched-out to .300 Weatherby, "you need to buy this barrel instead". Use this .300 Weatherby Magnum chambered barrel and save your unaltered barrel for future use in restoring your M70 back to its original collector quality condition. This barrel retains the original 26" length and the front sight ramp has been removed for use with a scope. The rear sight boss has also been nicely filled-in, but the bottom dovetail slot has been retained for use with a #7770 forearm stud and screw. The original roll-stamping is still on the barrel and it is marked "WEATHERBY 300 MAGNUM" on the underside of the chamber area, which is hidden by a stock. The bore is excellent and the cost of this barrel is far less than the cost of rechambering your original barrel. The cost of a barrel switch and headspace check is minimal, compared to the cost of rechambering your original barrel. The barrel has been polished and reblued, but it can be refinished back to a Winchester type bluing.
