Description: Depicts crossed 1903 Springfield rifles. Old stock, unissued. Guaranteed original and of the World War 1 period. Measures approximately 2” across. Gilt, good die struck detail. Prong back fastener. The prong back was used beginning in 1899. These were a very unsatisfactory device as they usually broke the second or third time they were fastened to the collar. I have several and yours will be equal to the one pictured. The 18th participated in the following campaigns in WW1: Montdidier-Noyon, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, Lorraine 1917, Lorraine 1918 and Picardy 1918. The 18th received the following decorations: French Croix de Guerre with Palm for Aisne-Marne and for Meuse-Argonne. Thank you for trading with me on eBay.
