Description: In the 1950s a Navy Ensign struck up a correspondence with the actress Shirley Booth. He was not happy with the ending of Miss Isobel which he had seen performed by Booth in New Haven. He goes into great detail. Earlier he had seen her on the Ed Sullivan Show and suggested The Dollmaker as a role suitable for her. There are three typed signed notes from Booth, reacting to his suggestions and ultimately telling him that the ending of Miss Isobel has been entirely changed for the New York opening. Two carbons of the ensign’s letters, and three typed signed notes from Booth. The ensign ultimately became a psychology professor, and then a well-regarded artist.
