The flaws are cosmetic in some way and do not affect the safety, form, fit or function of the knife. The flaw can be a scratch or blotch in the blade coating. It can be a blade that is tighter than normal and will require some use to flip open easily. It can be a blade that does not sit evenly in the handle or has a little side to side movement when it is locked open. Some may have a pocket clip that through handling looks worn. In the vast majority of cases, we have no idea why it was rejected. Our goal is to take enough pictures of the knife so that you can be comfortable with your purchase. If we can see a problem with a knife, we will take pictures of the problem so that you know exactly what you are getting. The last thing we want is to make a sale and have an unhappy customer. Every Factory Second had a tiny notch on the back of the blade near the jimping to identify it as a Factory Second. This is not the defect but a way for Spyderco to identify a Factory Second. These knives have not been used or carried. The Good The best part of buying a Factory Second is that you get the same quality of knife that others must pay full price to get. If you plan on carrying and using a beautiful Spyderco Knife a simple cosmetic issue is no problem because that is what happens when you use a knife. The Bad Because it is a Factory Second, these knives do NOT come with a box or warranty.
