Vintage 15 Jewel Viceroy WW2 Era Field Watch - Deep Green Horween Shell Cordovan

Description: Very cool WWII period field watch in great shape inside and out. I bought this watch as part of a watchmaker estate years ago. I’ve done a little research on it and not a lot of info on the Viceroy brand, but they used high quality components. As noted in the pics, the maker of the threaded stainless caseback is JW Handley. Higher end brands like RLX, Zodiac and others purchased their cases from Handley. Also, note the perlage or decorative swirls on the caseback and the Geneve stripes on the movement. This extra was only used on finer watches back in the day. I believe the movement is an AS movement from the 30s or 40s. This watch is like most other men’s watches from this era... It’s on the smaller side. It’s almost 30mm wide not including crown, and it’s about 35.7mm lug to lug. I made a high quality bund type strap to give it a little more presence on the wrist. I used Horween Shell Cordovan dark green and I used a dark brown calf for the underside. It’s really a comfortable watch, and very unique. Couple things the new owner needs to know. It was cleaned, oiled, and regulated about a year ago. I’ve worn it 3-4 times since then. It has attached lug bars. The bottom lug on the 7 o’clock side, or bottom left if you’re wearing it, can be bent out a small amount so that you can remove the bottom part of the watch from the strap, and flip it over to access the screwback and therefore the movement. The watchmaker can then remove the movement, etc. for future servicing or repair. Watch runs great and keeps good time. Make me a solid offer and we’ll do a deal.
