Might have happened during the manufacturing process Some white places on gold in photos are from reflected light and not from worn 24K gold leaf paintBut does have different degrees of wear where gold is worn from age and use It's a very beautiful and impressive piece (lots of eye candy for any one that sees it)Not an ordinary small box, this is an extra ordinary wonderful work of art by very very skilled artisans Has 25 different hight relief (all different designs and characters) panels, some very large panels and others smaller panels (see phots, pretty amazing designs and workmanship). All hand crafted, molded, painted and fired).Panels depict nudes, cherubs, courting couples, dancing couple, lanscapes, sheep, flowers, gardens and more.Looks like the artist signed his name (I. Ferra) in one of the very large panels (left hand end).
