Description: Postwar era (possibly used as late as 1980s) Italian Army adaptation of the British commando Bergen (rucksack). Featuring a large main compartment and three smaller pockets on the outside, this is a pared-back version, lacking the external utility straps, attachment points and zip compartments of the original. However it does have an ID pocket on the flap, and the ubiquitous Italian chain fastening on the main compartment, alongside a drawstring. Heavy, possibly hemp-linen mix canvas, steel fittings and frame and some leather straps and tabs to facilitate use of the frame. There is some corrosion on the metalwork. To the best of my knowledge, everything is present and functional. It looks like the main adjustment straps on the shoulder straps have been replaced, but the new ones look very strong. Some signs of use (see pictures) and age-related marks. Leather looks a bit dry. However the rucksack looks good overall and is clean and fully functional. A great unusual rucksack! Please examine the photographs. No returns please, I’m selling my collection to make space. Has been hand washed with unscented detergent. From a smoke and pet free home. Will aim to dispatch within three working days via Royal Mail for the U.K., or GSP only for international buyers. Please feel free to message with any questions !
