Description: This beautiful impressionist original watercolor by William D. Dampier is titled "Rain in Nevada City" and was completed in May 1970. Please note that there are minor .25 inch discoloration (scratches) on the wooden frame in the upper left and right corners. Dampier (1910-1985) was born in Spokane, Washington in 1910. He spent most of his life in Los Angeles with a studio atop Mount Washington. He was a pupil of Jack Wilkinson Smith and Ejnar Hansen. An impressionist, his work is characterized by brilliant color and fine draftsmanship. His subjects include desert landscapes and still life paintings.
