Plant them in a small but taller planter. Use well-drained sandy soil (slightly acidic is the best, but not so demanding.) Keep the soil moist but not overwatering. After they recover from stress, locate them in full sun, at least six hours of direct sun per day. When they grow adult leaves, transplant into a bigger pot. I am not so anxious to plant them at their permanent location unless irrigation system set up. Fertilize with a granular palm fertilizer containing micronutrients every spring, summer and autumn.Apply manganese or magnesium every so often to keep the fronds their prettiest deep-green color.Foxtail Palm requires a well-draining soil and responds well to regular deep waterings during the hot summer months. It grows in a wide range of soil conditions. The best location is in full sun, but it also does quite well in partly shady areas.
